Marriage Equality is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that educates about the importance of marriage and LGBTQ equality in the United States and around the world.
Marriage Equality’s founders John Lewis and Stuart Gaffney speak at universities, community events, and other venues across the U.S. and around the world. The organization provides a wide variety of media resources related to marriage equality. John and Stuart are available for media interviews and write a regular blog, published on the Huffington Post, San Francisco Bay Times, and the Marriage Equality website. Marriage Equality periodically hosts or participates in public education conference calls regarding legal matters affecting LGBT people.
Empowering LGBTQ people, their friends, and family to tell their own stories and to advocate in their own voices was a central mission of Marriage Equality USA, where John and Stuart were leaders for over a decade. John and Stuart will continue this mission with Marriage Equality.
The core of our message is love and our common humanity. We endeavor with millions of other people around the globe to create a world in which LGBTQ people — and indeed all people — can live with full dignity and freedom, including the freedom to marry the person they love.
